Job Summary:

The Application Support Manager is responsible for communication between sales, service, leadership, customers, and other team members, building and maintaining strong customer/channel/employee relationships. The Application Support manager is expected to maintain an exceptional working relationship with engineering, production, and service organizations and build out best practices to support customer needs.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Working with sales team, manage pre and post-sale support of customer expectations.

  • Partnering with the sales and service teams - implementing the Go-to-Market business development strategy for GC/MS products.

  • Direct interface with customers on chemical detection and analysis using GC/MS. Provide assistance with method and application development and data analysis and interpretation, including reach-back support to review customer-generated data.

  • Manage team of method and application development scientists that provide support to internal and external customers.

  • Provide feedback to marketing and R&D regarding application, hardware, and software features needed to stay ahead of changing market.

  • Demonstrates ability to build and maintain positive and productive working relationships across a broad range of people and groups...

  • Makes sound, well informed, and objective decisions; perceives the impact and implications of these decisions; commits to action, even in uncertain situations, that support accomplishment of organizational goals.

  • Balances customer demands with sound business management. Can effectively match resources to the job and execute to meet business needs.

Job Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. degree in Analytical Chemistry required.

  • At least 3 – 5 years of experience with GC/MS method and application development strongly preferred. Experience with GC/MS sample preparation methods for all phases of matter strongly preferred.

  • Over 5 years of customer support experience in the area of chemical analysis and data interpretation.

  • Strong experience in GC/MS qualitative and quantitative data analysis and interpretation

  • Experience Knowledge in MS/MS - tandem mass spectrometry.

  • Understanding cutting edge technologies and applications in the area of chemical analysis.

  • Demonstrated excellent written, presentation, and verbal communications skills including strong public speaking.

  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

  • Aptitude to understand and communicate scientific concepts, applications, and methods.

  • Manage multiple tasks in a result-oriented, commercial environment.

Other Desired Qualifications:

  • Work with sales, and business development along with potential/existing customers to identify and apply GC/MS for solutions to challenging chemical detection and analysis capabilities.

  • Engage with customers to develop application protocols and method optimization for the utilization of GC/MS products into new market opportunities and enhancements in existing market applications.

  • Author white papers, procedures, and technical bulletins on how to use GC/MS products for field and laboratory applications.

  • Employ expertise to present and help train others on GC/MS usage and best practices.

  • Supervise and direct the activities of Chemists on data collection and experimentation of GC/MS applications.

  • Experience with chemical analysis of sample mixtures in vapor, liquid, and solid phases.

  • Experience with supervising and managing a small staff of direct reports.

Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.
