Port of Seattle College Intern - Accounting in Seattle, Washington

Some of what you'll be doing:

This is a full-time summer, and part-time school year internship opportunity expected to last one year.

This internship position will help the Disbursements Team with focus on providing support to Accounts Payable (AP) unit within the Accounting and Financial Reporting department.

Some of your essential duties include:

  • You will perform a wide variety of accounting related functions including but not limited to: resolving exception reports in Accounts Payable payment processing, process invoice data entry, and review AP daily batch reconciliation.

  • You will assist in system administration of setting up users or account maintenance in AP workflow management system and Travel & Expense system.

  • You will provide admin support to the Disbursements Team, including Payroll Operations.

  • You will assist in managing the email mailbox for customer inquiries.

  • You will perform special projects as needed.

Who you are:

  • A student - You are enrolled in (or recently graduated from; interns may intern up to twelve months post-graduation) an undergraduate degree program related to accounting.

  • Desired - We hope you have knowledge and experience with financial software residing in a web-based architecture. Experience with PeopleSoft applications is preferred.

What else you need to know:

  • Work Schedule – The summer internship work schedule will be Monday – Friday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. This position may be extended to part time hours during the school year.

  • Work Environment – You will primarily work in an office environment. Telework may be available with manager approval.

  • Limited Duration – This is a limited duration position and is expected to last no longer than one year.

  • Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
