University of Rochester Physician Support Rep III in Rochester, New York

Responsibilities

Position Summary:

This role provides administrative support to the Division of Cardiac Surgery faculty, Director, and Administrator, requiring independent judgment and initiative. The ideal candidate will handle a high volume of work under time constraints, with extensive knowledge of hospital and university policies. Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills, along with exceptional interpersonal abilities, are essential for effective interaction with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the clinical activities of assigned faculty members.

  • Communicate with the Division Administrator about operational issues, practice concerns, and quality assurance.

  • Attend departmental meetings for training or operational issue resolution.

  • Schedule appointments, tests, and surgeries, coordinating preparations and obtaining necessary authorizations with thorough documentation.

  • Manage new referrals from various sources, entering new patients into the EMR with comprehensive documentation.

  • Participate in the phone answering system (ACD) to monitor and triage incoming calls, determining appropriate actions and ensuring thorough documentation.

  • Maintain patient records, including scanning, billing documentation, and submission of care and insurance documents.

  • Transcribe, proofread, and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of medical reports and business correspondence.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in medical terminology, word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software.

  • Research hospital medical records for information requested by physicians, insurance companies, and attorneys.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma and 2 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrates superior customer service skills.

  • Proficiency in medical terminology.

  • Experience with surgical/appointment scheduling preferred.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $18.89 - $25.51 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
