The University of Maine at Presque Isle is seeking a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Business beginning September 1, 2024.

The successful candidate will primarily teach undergraduate courses in business, preferably with a specialization in area(s) of human resources, sales, and general management, although work in future graduate programs may be available. Responsibilities will encompass course instruction and development, advising, engaging in campus and professional service, and fostering opportunities for undergraduate internships and experiential learning. We seek a dedicated professional with a passion for teaching and a commitment to career growth.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver a minimum of four courses, or equivalent, per semester at both introductory and advanced levels, employing a blend of traditional modalities (competency-based, online, hyflex, and/or in-person).

  • Actively contribute to the academic community through campus and professional service endeavors.

  • Assist in the development, instruction, and administration of both graduate and undergraduate programs.

  • Develop initiatives that involve undergraduate students, potentially leading to internships, independent projects, or conference presentations/publications.

    The work schedule will be variable based on the teaching schedule and research demands. Work beyond regular hours (which may include nights and weekends) will be necessary to meet the requirements of the position. Regular office hours on campus will be established, particularly during semesters when teaching.

    Based on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant, the salary range for this full-time, academic year Assistant position is $57,806 - $62,500 or for Associate the range is $65,912-$68,000 plus a 10% employer contribution to the UMS retirement plan.     Qualifications:

    Required:

  • Master's Degree required in Business Administration or a closely related field from an accredited institution.

  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to collaborate within the academic community and engage with external stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in utilizing innovative teaching methods and technology to enhance student learning experiences, including online instruction.

  • Willingness to travel occasionally, requiring a valid driver’s license.

    Preferred:

  • Doctoral Degree required in Business Administration or a closely related field from an accredited institution.

  • Licensure or certification relevant to the field of business (e.g., PHR, SHRM).

  • A minimum of 7-10 years’ experience working directly in management and leadership positions

  • Prior experience developing graduate level curriculum

  • Experience with competency based education

  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring undergraduate students and fostering their professional development.

  • Experience in scholarly activities including such things as; publications, presentations, or securing external funding.
