Cayuse Holdings Transportation Specialist in Pierre, South Dakota

Overview

The Transportation Specialist (TS) serves as a liaison and provides safe and compassionate care for unaccompanied children (UC) and/or family units (FAMU), while accompanying them during travel. Travel may include domestic or international flights, and/or ground transportation to facilities throughout the B.S. For effective and culturally sensitive communication, the Transportation Specialist is required to be bilingual in Spanish. The Transportation Specialist must adhere to process and procedures as directed under the contract. This position performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Cayuse

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safety and security of the unaccompanied children (UC) and family units (FAMU) that they are assigned while in transit from the departure and arrival locations.

  • The TS may be required to maintain and secure personal property of their assigned UC / FAMU, to include medications. All personal property and medications must be properly documented, tracked, and accounted for.

  • The TS will serve as a resource for UC / FAMU, providing information about processes and next steps, as well as encouraging questions and open communication.

  • Responsible for maintaining and updating documentation to facilitate the transportation process in an effective, and safe manner.

  • Must abide by and adhere to all U.S. laws and regulations regarding the safety and security of passengers during transport to include ensuring children are appropriately secured, using car seats and booster seats as indicated. All passengers must be properly secured with a seatbelt prior to vehicle and/or aircraft movement.

  • Responsible for the safety and security of all persons assigned to them and must maintain visual and auditory supervision at all times.

  • The TS must immediately escalate emergent situations appropriately and thoroughly document all incidents / occurrences.

  • Maintain current training and certification requirements in accordance with state and

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possess an associate degree in an appropriate discipline from an accredited university

(a high school diploma with an extra one or more years of relevant experience may be

substituted for an associate degree).

  • Must be bilingual (ability to read, write, and speak) in Spanish and English.

  • Have at least two years of documented experience in a field related to law, social work,

  • detention, corrections, or similar occupational area; as well as certification, licensure,

and credentials applicable to the professional accreditation of the position if applicable

school diploma with one or more years of relevant experience is substituted for an

associate degree).

  • Demonstrate experience applicable to the goals and objectives of this program.

  • Must be up to date on Vaccinations and Immunizations, including but not limited to the recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

  • Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

Minimum Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout Company organization.

  • Shall have the requisite skills, expertise, and experience to perform the requirements of each task. Must be extremely detail-oriented and well organized.

  • Must have basic skills using Microsoft and Google Suite Products (Word, Excel, Power Point) and be able to learn new software as the situation dictates.

Reports to: Program Manager

Working Conditions

  • May require Domestic and International Travel.

  • Conditions may vary depending on Location and mode of Transportation.

  • Able to communicate verbally and listen for constant surveillance of children and staff activities.

  • Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties while standing for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position.

  • Must be able to establish a productive and professional workspace.

  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time looking at computer screen.

  • May be asked to work a flexible schedule which may include holidays.

  • May be asked to travel for business or professional development purposes.

  • May be asked to work hours outside of normal business hours.

Pay Range

USD $15.00 - USD $20.00 /Hr.
