In this position...

  • You’ll be a key contributor to our efforts to provide the technical and regulatory expertise necessary for advancing such critical initiatives as product safety, emissions, fuel economy, vehicle recycling, and much more.

  • The Planning Systems and Tools Engineer is responsible for working with the Vehicle Homologation and Compliance (VH&C) department to maintain and optimize the project management software (Vehicle Compliance and Homologation Operating System - VHCOS).

  • This engineer will also take a leadership role to identify continuous system improvement opportunities in VHCOS and develop vision and roadmap for future upgrades. The role may also entail working with the IT team to developing additional IT applications which support VH&C deliverables.

What you'll do...

  • Create and maintain the VHCOS automation system to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of planning and completing Global Program Launch deliverables owned by the Vehicle Homologation & Compliance (VH&C) organization (part of the Environmental & Safety Compliance team – E&SC).

  • Provide systems support to the teams to resolve VHCOS system defects and answer questions.

  • Take a leadership role to identify continuous system improvement opportunities and develop vision and roadmap. Work with the appropriate SMEs to understand business requirements and coordinate with the Ford IT team (when necessary) to implement creative solutions within the VHCOS framework. This includes benchmarking against other systems and implementing greater automation and integration with other business systems.

  • Work with IT and VH&C business team on continuous improvement or development new projects for VH&C IT/database systems.

  • Monitor Build Phase Timing Changes and distribute a weekly report to notify team of updated timing.

  • Document and maintain accurate Work Instructions steps for using software systems within the business processes.

  • Lead efforts to upskill workforce in VHCOS Planning Systems by leading feedback and training sessions.

You'll have...

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science is required.

  • Accomplished skills with Project Management and software life-cycle development are desired

  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with common automation tools is required (e.g. Excel, Access, VBA, Alteryx). Experience with MS SQL Server database is desired.

  • Ability to test and deploy software tools for team use.

  • Familiarity with environmental and safety compliance and regulatory requirements is desired.

  • Candidate must be willing to work a transitional work arrangement (TWA) of between 50-90%

This position is a salary grade 8.

This position is a range of salary grades 6-8 .
