Health First Cardiac Care Tech - Interventional Prep Recovery (CNA/EMT-B) in Melbourne, Florida

POSITION SUMMARY: To be fully engaged in providing Quality/No Harm, Customer Service and Stewardship by providing Uncompromised Safety, Superior Quality, Memorable Patient/Customer Experiences, and Financial Stewardship by assisting licensed personnel in providing nursing care in performing and maintaining arterial venous sheath removal and procedures under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Quality/No Harm:

  1. Performs arterial and venous sheath removal post cardiac and radiology procedures under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse.
  2. Maintains and documents care of the puncture site post sheath removal under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse.
  3. Performs quality EKG tracing and performs Stat EKG's when requested.
  4. Performs Nursing Assistant duties as follows: o Completes Assigned tasks in a timely manner. o Collects, records, and reports accurate patient information. o Demonstrates effective communication with other members of the health care team and promotes effective team functioning. o Assists other associates to maintain productivity. o Demonstrates dependability, reliability and flexibility. o Competently performs routine procedures. o Utilizes Health First computer systems with regard to order inquiry and patient documentation.
  5. Performs Monitor Technician duties as follows: o Runs and places rhythm strips in designated place in patient's record. o Accurately identifies and reports arrhythmias. o Initiates patient set-up and maintains monitor equipment.
  6. Utilizes secondary skill as a monitor technician at least 30% of the time.
  7. Provides relief and assistance to the HUC as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to speak/understand written and verbal instructions in the English language.
  • Must have current Florida certificate as a Nursing Assistant or must obtain within four months of hire.
  • Must hold current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain.
  • Must Complete Basic Dysrhythmia course with at least 80% passing grade and completion of 80 clinical hours.
  • Must complete Hospital Cardiac Care Technician curriculum within 6 months of hire.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must have visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform clinical tasks.
  • Must be corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Must be able to lift, pull, push, turn, or ambulate patients/equipment up to 90% of the assigned shift.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds, unassisted, up to 33% of the assigned shift.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and stoop up to 90% of assigned shift.
  • Must be able to sit, up to 90% of the assigned shift.
  • Potential for exposure to bio hazardous waste, and known or unknown diseases.

MENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Must have ability to work in often stressful environment with patients/families at various ages and levels of understanding.
  • Must have ability to concentrate on multiple priority activities.
  • Must have ability to respond appropriately to life threatening situations.
  • Must have continuous concentration watching computer/monitor screens with only dinner and break times as per hospital policy.
