Congressional Staffer: GBSAA is a system that saves lives and money. - Provides safe separation from manned/passenger aircrafts - Allows drone pilots to operate in US national airspace - Allows pilots more training time and more pilots to be trained UAS Operator: GBSAA is a system designed to provide an essential level of safety for an UAS operator, allowing them to avoid other aircraft by providing information on intruders in a NAS airspace. Software Engineer (Ground-Based Sense and Avoid Program) Kutta Technologies is seeking a talented Software Engineer with 3 years of experience to join the Test Group for our Ground-Based Sense and Avoid Program. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining software that enables unmanned aerial systems (UAS) to detect and avoid obstacles in their flight path. Responsibilities: • Write scripts in Python to automate testing and analysis tasks. • Develop, execute, and maintain test cases to ensure software quality and reliability. • Use Git and GitLab for version control, code review, and continuous integration. • Collaborate with the software development team to design, implement, and maintain C++ code for the Ground-Based Sense and Avoid Program. • Work with stakeholders to understand requirements, identify issues, and propose solutions. • Contribute to software architecture and design discussions. • Continuously learn new technologies and tools to improve the software development process. What's the day-to-day like? We use Gitlab for issue tracker system. They'll be issued tickets and work through them. We have a hands-off management style, where we let technical people get deep into the work. There are limited meetings and communication unless needed. They'll be updating python code, logging into test spent, running on to special hardware, checking results onto what was tested. Primarily will be on the test team ,but can jump around to other teams as needed.
