Robert Half is seeking an ambitious and enthusiastic Controller to join the ranks at a well-respected Financial Services company in the quad cities. In this leadership position, you will direct an accounting staff. As the Controller, your tasks will include planning and directing all accounting operational functions, managing the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assessing accounting and internal control systems, and guiding departmental staff. How you will make an impact
Support Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, with research, planning, and implementation, as required
Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners
Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective
Review deliverables of self and team to align with client expectations
Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis
Able to perform additional tasks beyond formal job duties
Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time
Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash
Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Requirements - Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred
Exceptional analytical, quantitative and social skills
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued
Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
Profit and loss experience
Month-end Close Activities experience preferred
Banking Industry experience
Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation experience
High attention to detail
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued
