    Job Description

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT II, MANAGEMENT SCIENCE (MSA), Sloan School of Management, to provide high-level faculty and administrative support for multiple programs and projects. Will synthesize, evaluate, and communicate clearly, with an eye toward efficiency.; develop in-depth knowledge of the Institute and other departments in order to anticipate and initiate actions regarding office operations; interpret and resolve highly varied situations and problems; and support the mission of the area. Responsibilities include providing course support, purchasing, financial, calendar/scheduling, and other support for faculty; collaborating with other MIT offices, programs, and centers in support of faculty and area activities; acting as a financial approver for travel, reimbursements, and purchase card transactions for all faculty, other academic staff, and academic area staff; making complex purchases on behalf of the area; vendor management; planning and coordinating a wide range of high-profile events; overseeing faculty profile websites and creating, writing, editing, and posting articles to group website; database management; and a variety of other duties for the area. Job Requirements

REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; at least three years’ administrative, office, or related experience; general understanding of own work and how it impacts operations outside the academic area; ability to recognize the needs of the academic area and how it impacts other areas at MIT and understand role relative to all areas; advanced-level computer software skills and ability to easily negotiate the internet and perform searches; and excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to represent the work area and the larger MIT community.
