INTERNAL SEARCH FOR THE POSITION OF
ASSOCIATE DEAN IN THE GRADUATE COLLEGE
The Associate Dean in the Graduate College is a member of the Dean’s Executive Team and has responsibility, as delegated by the Dean, for matters related to academic and student affairs and for leading DEI efforts in the Graduate College.
This internal search for the Associate Dean is open to all tenured members of the Graduate Faculty at the University of Vermont at the rank of associate or full professor.
Candidates with appropriate academic leadership experience at the college and/or university levels and those with leadership experience in graduate education will receive the strongest consideration.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a collaborative leader to join the Graduate College at a time of great momentum as we implement a strategic plan to grow the breadth, scale, and impact of inclusive, student-centric, innovative graduate education at UVM . As a hub and advocate for UVM’s graduate and postdoctoral communities, the Graduate College offers thought leadership, central expertise, and collaborative services aligned with the needs of graduate students, faculty, and programs.
I hope that you will all encourage strong faculty leaders to consider as their next career step a leadership role in a university-wide division with the opportunity to make a major impact on graduate education and research.
This role is envisioned as a half time, 12-month position. While a multi-year term is expected, the Associate Dean is reviewed and reappointed annually by the Dean of the Graduate College.
Interested candidates should submit application materials by Friday, May 17, 2024, by visiting www.uvmjobs.com and searching for position #00026410. Candidates are requested to submit (1) a letter of interest (not to exceed 3 pages) summarizing their qualifications and vision for the position; (2) a current CV. Applications will be reviewed by an advisory committee appointed by the Dean of the Graduate College and finalists will be interviewed by the Dean.
Please reach out to Dean Hoock with any questions about this opportunity (hhoock@uvm.edu).
The Dean, with approval from the Provost, makes the final appointment. The appointment is expected to become effective August 1, 2024, although flexibility is possible depending on candidates’ current responsibilities.
