Director of Development University Catholic Center The University Catholic Center exists to help the students of the University of Texas at Austin to encounter the love of God in Jesus Christ, the Truth who sets us free. Job Summary: The Director of Development to plan and execute fundraising and development activities to reach annual financial goals, including all face-to-face gift solicitations. In collaboration with the Development Manager, the Director of Development is responsible for raising awareness of the University Catholic Center; cultivating support of our ministry and stewarding existing relationships, especially with alumni, parents of current and former students, and other benefactors; and growing revenue through major gifts, special events, and corporate and foundation support. The position reports to the Chaplain and operates with wide latitude for the use of independent judgment and initiative. Essential Job Duties: Identify, cultivate, solicit, and close major and annual gifts. Maintain an active pool of prospective benefactors who can financially support the ministry. Conduct a minimum of fifteen (15) to twenty (20) face-to-face visits monthly with potential benefactors in the form of discovery, cultivation, solicitation, or stewardship meetings. Assist in scheduling, coordination and follow-up of face-to-face visits for the Director of Campus Ministry or other staff and volunteers as appropriate. Direct the creation, organization, and implementation of all donor and alumni special events, receptions, gatherings, and fundraising initiatives, including follow-up relationship cultivation. Plan and supervise direct mail, phone-a-thon, special event, and other solicitation activities as needed. Direct the organization and management of the comprehensive development program through supervision of development staff and volunteers. Prepare annual plans for all fund development activities. Develop and maintain a five-year plan for the development program which is updated annually. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated ability to work effectively with and quickly gain the respect and support of various constituencies, including board and staff members, donors, foundations, and community leaders. Excellent interpersonal skills, including ease and skill in cultivating relationships with people of diverse backgrounds, ages, and circumstances. Excellent communication skills and presentation skills with ability to persuade in speech and in writing Understanding of the needs and interests of major gift donors in order to cultivate relationships and to think creatively and strategically about engagement of donors. Thoroughness in planning and implementing work, including goals, budget, timetables, and action steps to achieve objectives Collaborative work style and the ability to partner with all levels of the organization. Experience with electronic databases and donor record keeping Minimum Qualifications: Education and Trainings: Bachelor's degree Experience: Minimum two years of development and/or fundraising experience Language Requirement: English (proficient in conversing, reading, and writing. Catholic Requirement: Must be practicing Roman Catholic in good standing. Licenses / Certifications: Valid Texas driver's license. Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period. Ability to travel out of town at least twice a month. A basic knowledge of marketing and public relations Strong work ethic and sense of initiative Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000 annually plus benefits, as well as a commission structure.
